Washington / Florida — U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that the United States could launch fresh military strikes against Iran, keeping the option open as tensions between the two nations continue.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday before departing for Miami from West Palm Beach, Trump said there is a “real possibility” that military action could resume if Iran engages in what he described as unacceptable behavior.

“If they misbehave or do something wrong, we’ll see what happens,” Trump said, adding that he would not disclose specific plans publicly.

What’s happening

The remarks come at a time when Washington and Tehran are reportedly reviewing a potential framework aimed at easing hostilities. However, Trump made it clear that he is not convinced the current proposal is strong enough to move forward.

He revealed that the U.S. has received a draft plan from Iran but is still evaluating it. “I will review it soon, but I don’t believe it’s acceptable in its current form,” he said in a post on Truth Social.

Trump also criticized Iran’s past actions, suggesting that the country has not yet faced sufficient consequences for its behavior over the past several decades.

Iran’s response

Meanwhile, Iran signaled openness to diplomacy but warned it is prepared for escalation if needed. Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said Tehran has proposed a peace initiative through Pakistan acting as a mediator.

According to him, the goal is to bring a lasting end to the conflict. However, he emphasized that the next move lies with Washington.

“The ball is now in America’s court,” Gharibabadi said, adding that Iran is ready for both diplomacy and confrontation to protect its national interests.
